One Voice Chorus is proud to present the world premiere of Songs of the Phoenix! One Voice joined forces with the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus and other LGBTQIA+ choruses to co-commission this monumental choral work, featuring 10 movements created by 13 different composers and lyricists, who represent myriad identities and cultures.
No community is immune to tragedy and loss, but shared struggle may give way to rebirth, victory, and even joy. Through individual songs with powerful messages, each creator brought multifaceted cultural, spiritual, and emotional experiences to life.
After each performance, One Voice will present talk-backs to discuss the issues raised in the overall work.
